Puffy Tortillas

  • Stove


  • 3 1/2 cups flour no bleached flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 cup water


  • In a mixing bowl add all dry ingredients and give a small mix, then stir in the oil and add in the water a little bit a time. Stir to combine then knead to form a smooth dough. Add more water if the mixture is too crumbly; add more flour if too sticky.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces, then shape the pieces into balls and roll each out on a slightly flour dusted surface to prevent sticking.
  • Put one tortilla in a very hot nonstick pan and let cook for up to 1 minute until it starts to bubble on the surface. Flip and cook the other side. Repeat for remaining tortillas.
  • Keep the tortillas in a covered bowl to keep them flexible and soft.
